Hello there! I'm Violet but you can call me vee! I'm 24 years young, born and raised in the south of the Lake District, UK. I am so lucky to live in one of the most stunning places in the world!
I am always my happiest when out in nature, my favourite thing to do is finding peaceful walks with beautiful scenery to explore, and stopping for my second favourite thing: a cup of coffee!
I recently finished studying for my MSc in Crime & Justice at the University of South Wales, Pontypridd. It was fantastic to live in Wales for a year, I will definitely be visiting again! Before then, I studied Criminology & Sociology at Lancaster University.
Whilst deciding which direction to take my career, I have decided to explore the hidden gems my home county has to offer and to focus upon my main hobby: nature photography!
Nature photography has always been an interest of mine, whether it be sunsets, blooming flowers which have caught my eye or trails deep within woodland. I really enjoyed being able to share these places with friends and family via my photographs!
I decided to start showcasing my work as 'Veelight Photography' in 2016, armed with a basic 'point & shoot' camera and a long list of places I wanted to visit! Late 2016, I received my first DLSR camera, a Sony Alpha 200, which only heightened my passion and knowledge for photography!
This site was created as I wanted one place to display all of my photographs, and was publicly released in January 2017. Rather than a portfolio, this is my personal scrapbook of my adventures!
As mentioned previously, my main area of focus is nature, and I enjoy practising macro techniques, photographing ruins or other historical sites, and astrophotography.

I find it really enjoyable to visit old ruins as it is fascinating to see how these buildings have fought against nature over time! My grandma is really passionate about history, so it's great to share these places with her via my photography!
Where I live there are fantastic, clear skies - just not the right weather majority of the time! I have been lucky enough to witness many shooting stars in my life, with 47 in one night alone! One day I hope I will capture a shooting star on my camera!
I have worked still photography and additional cameras on a few film productions, alongside portfolio work for musicians. Portraiture is an area I am interested in further developing my skills within.
Besides exploring nature and photography, I enjoy yoga, binge watching TV series, a good book, stroking every cat I see and tending to my garden of cacti and carnivorous plants!
